THE EASIEST WAY TO CLEAN AN OVEN

You will love this cleaning method if you have baked-on spills or grease in your oven. I have tried many different products and cleaning methods over the years. I am so excited to have found Scrub Daddy Power Paste! This made cleaning my oven so easy! You don’t have to spend all day in the kitchen to get your oven clean and ready for the holidays or your next family meal. It truly is the best, easy oven cleaning method I have found.

I love this cleaning paste. Its clay-based formula creates a natural abrasive cleaner. I am always looking for products that are safe to use around my children and pets. Scrub Daddy Power Paste is non-toxic and all-natural. It is also dye-free and biodegradable, making it safe for the environment. The ScrubMommy sponge is a great addition. It has an abrasive side that is great for scrubbing but still safe for most surfaces and a soft sponge side for wiping up or easy cleaning.

Partnered with some steam and maybe a drop or two of essential oils, your oven will be fresh and clean in no time!

ITEMS YOU WILL NEED

To clean the oven, gather Scrub Daddy Power Paste, lemon essential oil, microfiber clothes, and a large saucepan.

To get started, you will need a few things. Some of these items may already be in your home. If not, I have shared links to get what you need.

  • Scrub Daddy Power Paste (I recommend getting the container with the Scrub Mommy cleaning sponge already included, which can be found here)
  • Large saucepan or oven-safe bowl
  • Microfiber cloth (check out my favorite ones here)
  • Lemon essential oil (any essential oil will work, my go-to can be found here)
  • Cleaning gloves

GETTING STARTED

To begin with, you will want to wipe any loose crumbs or food out of the oven. Grab a microfiber cloth, dampen it, and start wiping out anything on the bottom of the oven.

This doesn’t have to be perfect, but removing loose debris will make cleaning much easier and faster. One or two minutes is all you need.

I find it is easier to remove the wire racks and place them in the sink to wipe down. It also makes it easier to reach the back wall and corners of the oven.

BOIL WATER

If your oven isn’t too bad or you are in a hurry, you can skip this step. Steam is one of the best ways to loosen really stuck-on or burnt food, though.

Boil water and add lemon essential oil before putting it in the oven.

Simply boil a whole pot of water. I use one of my cooking pots. You can also use a large bowl and boil the water in the microwave without worrying about a hot stove top while cleaning. Just be sure you are okay with whatever dish you use going in the oven. Be sure to keep that essential oil ready on standby!

OVEN CLEANING TIME

While the water is boiling, now is the time to get cleaning! Put on those cleaning gloves and break open your ScrubDaddy Power Paste. Simply dampen your ScrubMommy and rub the FlexTexture side into the Power Paste. You can squeeze the sponge a few times to create a cleaning foam.

I recommend starting at the top and back of your oven and working toward the front, saving the door for last. This will allow you to lean into the oven without getting cleaner on yourself. Scrub in a circular motion, spending more time on those burnt spots. When needed, rinse out your sponge and add more power paste.

Cover the oven, rinsing the sponge as needed and reapplying more Power Paste. While this takes a little elbow grease you shouldn’t have to scrub too hard or take too much time. Just be sure to cover the entire surface area.

Once the inside of the oven is covered in the cleaning paste foam, give the oven racks a quick scrub as well and place them back in the oven.

TIME TO SIT

At this point, your water should be boiling. Turn off the heat and add a few drops of the lemon essential oil to the water. This will help your oven smell so fresh! Place the pan on the top rack in the oven. Close the door and let the steam do the hard work!

Place boiling water in the oven and sit for an hour to let steam loosen burnt-on food.

I recommend letting everything sit for an hour. The steam will penetrate any remaining stuck-on grease and food, softening it for easy removal. Remember, it is okay to skip this step if your oven is not too dirty or you are short on time. I find it helpful for those incredibly stubborn, baked-on messes, though. Not to mention, the lemon essential oil makes the kitchen smell so fresh and clean!

WIPE DOWN

After an hour, remove the pan from the oven. It may help to lightly scrub over any hard stains one last time. My oven door had quite a bit of burnt on food, so I gave it one last scrub.

It is now time to wipe everything down! While the sponge side of the Scrub Mommy will work, I like to use a damp microfiber cloth to really wipe up the mess. You may have some dirty water pooling at the bottom of the oven. If you prefer, a few paper towels can soak up any larger pools of water, but the microfiber cloth works great.

I like to wipe down the door first so that I can lean into the oven a little easier. Simply rinse off the microfiber cloth as needed and continue to wipe down. Once the door is done, start at the top of the oven and work your way down. Watch as the dirt and grime simply wipe away!

Make sure to wipe off the oven racks as well. If it is easier, rinse them in the sink; I have also done this. Once everything is wiped down, replace the oven racks if you removed them, and then you are done! Your oven will be free from burnt food and grease and look new!
